
Jiannis Papadakis (aka OLLA/VIA) is an electronic experimental musician, performer, A/V and conceptual artist based in Athens. The core of his works is influenced by the philosophy of noise, music technology and sound research, while his main creative interest is in site-specific art. As a musician he has been active for the last 20 years having performed live in various venues with names such as Cut Hands, Sam Shackleton, A place to bury strangers. He is also a frequent participant in underground venues in and outside of Athens. He has participated in TRANSMEDIA LABWORKS of the Greek National Opera (GNO) presenting an interactive audiovisual installation, with his latest official exhibition of his audiovisual work taking place at the '15th Audiovisual Arts Festival' in Corfu.
For the last 4 years he has been involved through the projects of Contemporary Music Research Center (ΚΣΥΜΕ-CMRC) of the Athens Conservatory, having attended the annual courses in electroacoustic composition and music technology. He has also taken part in various concerts and sound performances at the Conservatory's venues with his latest participation in the 'Xenakis Networked Performance Marathon 2022'.
His sonic research additionally includes his involvement with the construction and configuration (hacking/mods) of electronic devices (circuit bending).
Finally, he is the manager of 'Π6'artspace where he organizes and supervises the artistic events of the space and he is a member of the physical theatre group 'Kosmoi apo gala', participating as a performer, sound-designer and implementing the sound installations of the group's theatrical productions. 'LARGACTIL' and 'h alepou tha ksanarthei' are the group's most recent works which were performed at the 'ΨNA Dromokaiteio' in October 2023 and 'ΨΝΑ Dafni' in October 2024.
He is a graduate of the Technological School of Mechanical Engineering of Heraklion, Crete and holds a Master's degree in 'Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age' from the Ionian University - Department of Audio and Visual Arts.
